This is the ring ceremony for Mitendra and his bride to be. Like most engagements in India, theirs was arranged by their families. Meeth hardly knows his fiancé and set eyes on her once previous to the rings ceremony. They will slowly get to know one another this year and will marry the next. It was a beautiful ceremony. The families exchanged gifts in honor of their commitment to one another and Meeth and his fiancé performed rituals and were blessed by a priest before placing their figurative rings on each other’s fingers. Post ceremony we ate absolutely delicious Indian fare: paneer masala, malai kofta, rasmalai, and some of the best gulab jamun I’ve ever had. Then we danced to traditional music and Hindi renditions of modern western songs till it was time to go home.
